How to fight common fall allergens

Fall is the American English word for the word autumn in British English. When the blooms of the summer have faded, the autumn starts showing its presence. People start sneezing. There are different triggers for fall allergy and ragweed is the most common trigger which is causing about half the fall allergies in US. There are a host of other allergens that show Fall allergy symptoms. It has been found that about one billion pollen are produced by a single ragweed plant. If there is any necessity to go out uses a painter’s mask. Keep doors and windows of your house and car always closed. Remove your jacket and shoes before entering your home. This will help you to clear all the pollen that has been carried in those things. Regularly vacuum your carpets and upholstery as they can be carriers of pollen.

Mold and mildew

Mold and mildew are other two common fungi that thrive outdoors as well as indoors.  They grow on and produce spores that are spread by wind or air inside the room. These fungi tend to grow throughout the year.  During fall they grow on damp leaves and compost heaps. They thrive in basements, kitchens and bathrooms which are damp. Fortunately they don’t go dormant during winter days.

Plan of attack

Make your yard free of fallen leaves and clear leaves form gutters so that no Fall allergy symptoms are produced ever. Keep your waste piles and compost away from your house. Always wear protective mask when engaging in raking leaves or cleaning waste bins. Always empty the bin completely. Use a dehumidifier in the basement of the house. Maintain a humidity of 35-50 percent in your rooms. Use vinegar while cleaning bathroom or kitchen. Also use anti-mildew agent to prevent mold buildup.
