How to Tell That I'm Excited

February 15, 2007

The Zen Master can tell that I am starting to get very excited about SXSW, because I have officially gone into Hyper Organized Social Mode. These are the symptoms that I have displayed so far:

1) I have taken the liberty making sure that every SXSW Interactive event is properly tagged and grouped on Upcoming.org

2) I noticed that there was an uneven dispersion of events on certain days, so I went on the SXSW Evening Events page and transcribed every missing event onto Upcoming.org

3) I am now have either a watching or attending status on every SXSWi event. Even the one possibly sponsored by a pornographic media service (btw, not going).

4) I created a map of Downtown Austin with the location of every bar hosting a SXSWi event.

5) I signed up for Twitter so that I know where all the cool kids are at all times.

6) I entered the entire party schedule into my cell phone.

Some people turn into a blubbering mess when they're excited about something, I turn into a geeky Martha Stewart crossed with a Tasmanian Devil. That's how I roll.

A LAWYER WALKS INTO A BAR... says:

While there, we'd be honored if you'd check out the SXSW premier of our film, A LAWYER WALKS INTO A BAR... It premieres on Tuesday, March 13th at 10:30pm at the Paramount Theater. Dentler wants people to go see it between the closing ceremony and party.

Directed by Eric Chaikin and produced by Tasha Oldham, the film takes a whimsical look at lawyers, law and litigiousness in America as seen through the eyes of six would-be lawyers preparing for the most notorious bar exam in the nation.

The film features cameos by legal luminaries, politicians, celebrity lawyers and other notables, including actor and comedian Eddie Griffin, attorney Robert Shapiro (counsel to O.J. Simpson), CNN’s Nancy Grace, Court TV’s Catherine Crier, novelist Scott Turow, Harvard law professor and legal commentator Alan Dershowitz, U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Clinton advisor Vernon Jordan, renowned Texas trial lawyers Joe Jamail and Mark Lanier, Comedy Central’s Michael Ian Black, and ABC’s John Stossel, among others...

For those without a film badge, you can order pre-sale tickets via the film's website. (All proceeds go directly to SXSW.) Space is very limited as SXSW badge holders will have priority seating after this advance ticket pre-sale.

I had a feeling that you were moving in to your "Hyper Organized Social Mode" (thanks, Dave, what a great way to put it) when last week at dinner you expressed frustration about all the SXSW events were all on the same night...

Take a deep breath, it will occur in good time and you will have a good time. ;o)

Who says I'm not relaxed? I'm perfectly relaxed and completely prepared to fully enjoy my SXSW experience. I will know when and where everything is at all times. :)

When I was going through the events on Upcoming, I thought I saw your name attached to quite a few. Your post explains it. Have you considered posting your map here as a PDF?

Maybe when it gets closer. Some people are still adding parties and others are changing their locations.

But I have to warn you, because I did the map by hand on a printed out Google Map, some of the numbers are less than legible.
